From the trip in Wenatchee, in the heart of apple country, you are heading north along the Columbia River on the 97th Highway On the way you are from Rocky Reach Dam, one of the many hydroelectric power plants passwill see on this trip. Here you can fish pass through the fish ladders and tour the Museum of the Columbia.

It will continue north through the small town of Entiat, which sits at the mouth of the Entiat River and continue to pass on to the city of Chelan. Chelan sits at the bottom of Lake Chelan, where the water flows from the Columbia River below. Lake Chelan for over 50 miles and offers great opportunities for boating, jet skiing, or fishing. If you have aextra day, take the ride on the lake by boat into the community of Stehekin. Stehekin is an isolated village at the head of Lake Chelan, that no roads go, you can get it only by boat, seaplane or hiking trails. The city of Chelan has many great opportunities to shop in the old downtown section. Antique shops, art galleries and many other local businesses who are just waiting to be explored.

Further north of Chelan, you pass through the towns of Pateros and Brewster. Both communities are primarily agricultural base and provide good places to break the highway and along the River. Before you reach Pateros you will pass by a second dam, Wells Dam. The water that backs behind Wells Dam provides a popular resort for locals and visitors. Located in Brewster, and climbed up on a pedestal near the Veterans of Foreign War building that is a real Air Force fighter jet. Quite a glance to see in a town as small asthis.

By Brewster you want until the Columbia River and head to Bridgeport, which is about 12 miles east. Bridgeport was once the home of the largest hotel found between Seattle and Spokane, this was the case in 1910 anyway. Bridgeport is the home of Chief Joseph Dam, which is the second largest producer of hydropower in the nation. Chief Joseph Dam is big and built at the mouth of the canyon, the water built up behind it is called RufusWoods Reservoir, and draws anglers from near and far.

Approximately 38 miles east of Bridgeport, you come to the Grand Coulee Dam. The location of the dam is great and it's worth the trip in itself. As Chief Joseph Dam, Bridgeport, there are guided tours available, the inner workings of this huge structure to explore. After dark in the warmer months, a laser show on the face of the dam was radiant and accompanied by a historical narrative and music. The show is popular withChildren and adults alike and is a must-see event. Roosevelt Lake is formed by the water behind Grand Coulee Dam and extends all the way to the border with Canada. Fishing, camping and all water sports are popular on Lake Roosevelt. Many local companies are in the area with the three small communities of Coulee Dam, Grand Coulee and Electric City at your service.

During the drive south of Grand Coulee Dam, you will be following the shoreline of Banks Lake. Banks Lake isactually an artificial lake with water from Grand Coulee Dam, pumped up full. Again, as with all other waters in North Central Washington, there are many fishing, boating and camping opportunities on the lake banks. Steamboat Rock State Park is a popular destination for campers and water sports, take a break and climb to the summit of the rock. At the southern end of most banks is Coulee Lake City, here you will find his head back west across the earthen Dry Falls Dam on the way back towhere you started. Just south of Dry Falls Dam, Dry Falls is the remains of a huge waterfall higher than Niagara Falls sits before her eyes, and is breathtaking. Sun Lakes State Park is also located here.

Further back on Highway 2 and west you will pass through the Scablands of the Grand Coulee country until you get the wheat in the near Waterville hit countries. Waterville is the county seat for Douglas County and has a rich history of agriculture. Just west of Waterville, you getPine Canyon down and find again in the Columbia River. Heading south on Orondo, another small farming community, have you taken in the northern end of East Wenatchee and back near where you began your journey.

Beautiful scenery, dam tours, water sports, shopping, small towns, camping and hiking opportunities in North Central Washington has it all.

The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade

The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) is the second of three rules of international trade in modern times. It was succeeded by the World Trade Organization (WTO), and coexists with the failed International Trade Organization (ITO). The International Trade Organization was negotiated as a counterpart to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, institutions in the Bretton Woods Conference in 1944. Named after Bretton Woods, New Hampshire,Website of the Mount Washington Hotel where the negotiations took place, the conference is formally called the United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, but rarely with this name was no longer detected with 730 delegates from the 44 allied nations that are already planning for the design the world would last visited when the Second World War to an end.

The basic idea of Bretton Woods was the promotion of open markets and reduce trade barriers among member states. In 1946,UN Economic and Social Committee called for a conference on the Charter of the International Trade Organization. Although agreed upon fairly quickly, ITO never off the ground, any attempt to have the U.S. Congress does not approve it, on the grounds that the ITO would be given too much responsibility on internal American affairs. At the end of 1950, President Truman announced that he too quit after the ratification of the ITO Charter, and would be without American participation,Organization wither on the vine. GATT, had been successfully implemented in the meantime, however, was intended to supplement, not replace, the ITO. While the ITO and the WTO, there was now an organization, the GATT was only a contract, without infrastructure, personal or institutional existence.

The negotiations on the GATT began in parallel and in cooperation with the ITO negotiations, and were originally designed as a short-term binding contract easy to some countriesagreed terms until the ITO began operations. Twenty-three countries, the original contract, which in the United States was a congressional-executive agreement ", a form of power of the President to negotiate trade agreements to grant this authority by Congress. In essence, it granted" most favored nation "status on all the nations of the signing of the contract. A staggering total of 45,000 allowances have been supplied from the first signing of the GATT, affecting half the worldTrade is a huge initiative, despite the failure of the ITO three years later. More "rounds" of GATT followed, each of which involved a somewhat different questions, to the slightly different sets of countries:

The Annecy Round in Annecy, France, in 1949 further reduced tariffs in 13 countries. The Torquay Round, 1951, England, 8700 for further concessions. The Geneva Round, in 1956, further concessions, and the first participation of postwar Japan. The DillonRund, 1962, Geneva, named after the Treasury Douglas Dillon, tariff concessions and early discussions on the European Economic Community. The Kennedy Round, 1967, Geneva, named after the late President Kennedy, with 66 countries so far. The Tokyo Round, 1979, 102 countries, and the first discussion on limiting non-tariff barriers and voluntary export restraints. The 1993 Uruguay Round, begun in 1986, was the most ambitious. It took seven years to negotiate, involved 123Countries, and was the first agricultural products to participate. This was the last round of GATT, as one of the reasons for the negotiations lasting as long as the decision was to create an organizational institution: the WTO replaced the GATT in 1995.

The Guggenheim Museum – Solomon R. Guggenheim’s Great Gift to New York City

New York is more than the largest city in America: It was and remains the inspiration behind much of the most enduring piece of land of art and literature. By Langston Hughes to Jonathan Safran Foer, and Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, New York City hustle and bustle of many an American has American cultural movement since the early 1900's been. This fact is all the more obvious are by wide range of city of museums and galleries, the best known being theMuseum of Modern Art (MOMA), The Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim Museum, among many others.

Both artistically and architecturally, New York's Guggenheim Museum (technically called the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum) is one of the most interesting sights of the city and artistic forums. The famed author EB White once said, "New York is the nation what the white Tower is the village ", and it might be possible to say that in the artistic sense, the whiteTower of New York is the Guggenheim. Located on the corner of 89th Street and 5th Avenue in Manhattan's Upper East Side, put the architect Frank Lloyd Wright look out of the building, which described as "a white ribbon curled into a cylindrical stack," and was intent on his avant-garde design which makes the Metropolitan Museum of Art as "a Protestant barn." Although at that time universally condemned, the building is now seen as one of New York's finest – as is often the case withthe best pieces of architecture.

Originally founded in 1937 as "The Museum of Non-Objective Painting, the Guggenheim was founded primarily to show the work of early modernists like Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. In particular, it is shown by the work of Kandinsky and Jackson Pollock on a continuous basis. Recent exhibitions have different ideas of Russian and socialist art, Robert Mapplethorpe and the Classical Tradition, David Smith: A Centennial, and included theImages of Baghdad born artist Zaha Hadid. His future plans showcases the works of Lucio Fontana and Spanish Painting from El Greco to Picasso. This eclectic array of artists and artistic works showing the continued commitment of the Guggenheim Museum in its original aim to present the work of the new modernity, but also to new forms of modern art in the twenty-first century. Although "high" modern and postmodern art are the most important artistic lines has been pursued by theGuggenheim, it was also host to a variety of commercial art, including the seasons motorcycles and Giorgio Armani suits present.

The Guggenheim Museum in New York is part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, founded a non-profit organization in 1937 by major philanthropist Solomon R. Guggenheim and artist Hilla von Rebay. Since the founding of the first Guggenheim in New York, the base for the other museums in Bilbao, Venice, Berlin and Las Vegas has to open left, and isin the process of establishing another Guggenheim in Abu Dhabi. For artistic tourists might, a perfect vacation idea, a trip around the world to all the Guggenheim museums. This idea is not even as expensive as it may seem: for example, there are Hilton hotels in these cities and with the Hilton Honors award system, traveling art fans can use their accumulated points for hotel rewards reclaim and air miles with To make a variety of different airlinesGuggenheim their worldwide tour a holiday with a difference.

Baltimore’s Inner Harbor

I drove from my home in eastern Pennsylvania to the south have to Inner Harbor Baltimore lunch with Paul, a longtime friend. Paul and I worked together years earlier at the Microsoft succeeded in Washington, DC consulting practice, while I had the responsibility for the East Coast. We became close friends, and we together for lunch about every three months or so in the Inner Harbor. Paul also helped with a critique of my novel, Unholy Domain, and I thanked him in theConfirmations.

The Little Italy section is situated in the north (3-4 block walk) from the built-up Inner Harbor. There must be a dozen or more old-fashioned Italian restaurants in three blocks. You know, I mean old brick front, a few steps on, long and narrow inside, white tablecloths and waiters, who have pretty much eaten everything on the menu. Places that look like they have been offering Italian food for the residents of twenty or thirty who knows how many years.

Pauland I've sampled all the Italian restaurants in Little Italy over the years, and we chose one of our favorites. Not mean that each of these places are bad, just that some are better than others. Fresh pasta, big fish, the usual delicacies such as ourselves with each other's lives.

Then came the sporty part of our day, walking around the Inner Harbor. I must admit that the politicians made a great job in Baltimore have. The Inner Harbor is a major tourist attraction, with people coming from all over the aquarium, shops and restaurants, the lighthouse, the ships and the pier. I stopped to buy chocolates for my wife always earned my points and Paul and I enjoyed browsing in a bookstore and a large electronics retailer. Of course, we reviewed many attractive women to walk around the harbor. We're old married guys, but we are still breathing too.

Just one day to just enjoy the Inner Harbor with a friend. Not everything is to a largeTrade.
